SERVICE LEVELS |
| • ALS/PHRN:
Specially equipped unit staffed with a Prehospital Registered
Nurse and an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Availability of this specialized nursing service is based
on current demand and time of notification
• ALS/Paramedic:
A vehicle equipped to monitor EKG, advanced airway management,
IV therapy and regionally approved drug administration.
This unit is equipped to handle all levels of care to
seriously ill or injured patients whether it be emergency
or non emergency. These trips must meet medical necessity
guidelines and if medically necessary, are usually reimbursed
through all payors including Medicare.
This unit staffed with one Paramedic and one Emergency
Medical Technician (EMT).
• BLS/Emergency Medical Technician:
A vehicle equipped with basic life support equipment
and equipped to monitor patients during transport and
utilized for patients requiring care en route. This unit
is equipped to handle all basic level emergencies and
non-emergencies. These trips generally must meet medical
necessity guidelines and if medically necessary are usually
reimbursed through all payors including Medicare.
This unit staffed with two Emergency Medical Technicians
(EMTs)
• Ambulette:
A vehicle utilized for medical transportation of patients
who are either wheelchair bound or stretcher bound and
do not require medical care en route. This unit is equipped
to administer portable oxygen. These transports generally
do not meet medical necessity guidelines and are not reimbursed
through Medicare. Some commercial payors do cover these
services.
Van staffed with two CPR/ First Aid oxygen administration
trained attendants.
• Wheelchair:
A vehicle utilized for medical transportation of patients
who are wheelchair bound that do not require medical attention
or personal care before, during, or after transport. The
patient may carry their own personally maintained oxygen
on board. Personal wheelchair is not required. A wheelchair
is available for transport use. This service is “lobby
to curb” or “curb to curb” pick up.
There will be an extra charge when lift assistance is
required for steps. These transports generally do not
meet medical necessity guidelines and are not reimbursed
through Medicare. Some commercial payors do cover these
services.
Van staffed with one CPR /First aid trained operator/attendant.
